DALLAS, TEXAS – Servitas is proud to announce the opening of the Harbour, a first-time student housing facility located at Orange Coast College (OCC) in Costa Mesa, California. The 823-bed project serves as the first and only community college in Southern California to offer on-campus student housing.
The $123M student housing project was financed under a public-private partnership (P3), which broke ground in September 2018. The Harbour, a 321,105 SQ. FT building was uniquely designed to enhance the student experience by creating a living-learning environment that offers convenient accessibility and is located on campus. OCC is one of the nation’s largest community colleges, enrolling more than 25,000 students each semester and has successful student transfer rates into the University of California and California State Systems, which supported the need and demand for student housing.
“Servitas is honored to deliver this historic residence hall for Orange Coast College that not only provides its students with on-campus housing for the first time, but also serves as a guide for many surrounding community colleges looking to offer student housing,” said Angel Rivera, Senior Vice President of Development Services at Servitas. During the final month of construction, all teams faced many challenges due to COVID-19 including a Southern California Glaziers union labor strike.

The four-story wood frame building consists of 823-beds and 326 apartment style units. The units are fully furnished with a bed, desk, chair and storage space. Floorplans include a full kitchen, living room, bathroom, sofa, tv stand, and coffee table. Other units include a dining table and chairs. Community amenities include study lounges on each floor, package lockers, bike storage, courtyards, on-site laundry, resident-only parking, and controlled building access with safety camera surveillance.
