Evansville, IN
Servitas’ partnership with a private school sits in the very heart of the University of Evansville. This new, state of the art residence hall is intended to serve the underclass cohorts with the latest in pod-style living. The building was designed with a focus on creating a community that will passively encourage resident interpersonal growth while they actively pursue their intellectual growth in the classroom. The building replaced old housing that was behind the times and beyond the useful life of the structure.
The new hall will houses 293 students in a mix of double and single occupancy formats. About half of the residents will live in 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom double occupancy units that will house 6 students per unit. The next most prevalent unit is a 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom pod with single occupancy that will house 4 students per unit. Finally, there are a handful of studio type single resident units. There is also a 2-bedroom apartment for a professional staff member. The building contains on site laundry facilities, community kitchen, gaming and activity lounges as well as multiple community study lounges. The project was financed by the University, and they will own and operate the facility. Servitas provides the University full development services from concept design through permitting and construction to substantial completion and occupancy.
