Park West was recognized with the Keep Brazos Beautiful Green Business Award for its use of a moisture detection, non-potable water irrigation system and inclusion of plants that would reduce maintenance. The award ceremony took place in College Station, Texas, on May 23. The Green Business Award is given to a local business that incorporates green practices, consciously conserves resources, or demonstrates environmental stewardship.

Beautification efforts of the main entrance and walkway began in mid-March and took roughly three weeks to plan. The project’s objective was to create a more appealing and low maintenance entrance for future and current residents.

“Of course, this project has benefited our residents by creating a peaceful and beautiful space to relax, but its real value stems from its low-maintenance features including the perennial drift roses and the resource-saving features including the moisture detection rain sensors.” Servitas Management Group Vice President of Operations Denise Hauck said. “We are excited about the project’s ability to save Park West money, savings we can use to keep our residents’ rents low.”

Daily beautification and landscape duties at Park West include mowing, edging and weed eating the lawns, trimming the bushes and trees, de-weeding the flower beds, emptying trash cans, and picking up trash in walkways.
